Allen School Property Acquired

On January 10th, 1942, Mary and Ewald Hansen deeded 12 acres of farm land on Genoa-Clay Center Road in Allen Township to the Allen Township Board of Education. Shortly thereafter, “Allen Central School” was constructed and had been used for a school by Allen Township and Genoa Area Schools ever since. That is until this year, when the Genoa Board of Education completed the new elementary school located at the High School site at the corner of Genoa-Clay Center Road and Moline-Martin Road.

In 2008 when the voters passed the necessary Levy to build the new school, it was the intention of the School Board to donate the “Allen Central” grounds back to the Township. True to their word, on August 31st, 2011 the Genoa School Board deeded the property to the Allen Township Board of Trustees. The Deed was presented by School Board President Mitch Hoyles and Treasurer Bill Nye. Allen Township Board President Craig Blausey and fiscal officer Sonia Eischen accepted the deed on behalf of Allen Township.
